Below are listed the current rates paid by each Health and Social Care Trust to Direct Payments users. 

For advice and a list of the costs you will need to cover using your Direct Payments contact your local Centre for Independent Living.

Belfast Health and Social Care Trust

This Trust comprises of the former North & West and South & East Belfast Health Trusts.

• £9.34 per hour


• £35.00 per night sleepover

This Trust gives an additional £5 per week on top of the above hourly rates to pay for a payroll service (if required) and £135 every year to pay for Employers Liability Insurance.

South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust

This Trust comprises of the former Down & Lisburn and Ulster Community & Hospitals Health Trusts.

• £8.92 per hour


• £50.00 per night (sleepover)

This Trust also gives an additional £5 per week on top of the above hourly rates to pay for a payroll service (if required) and the amount of the annual premium to pay for your Employers Liability Insurance every year. 

Southern Health and Social Care Trust

This Trust comprises of the former Armagh and Dungannon, Craigavon and Banbridge, and Newry and Mourne Health Trusts.

• £11.05 per hour (Personal Care)


• £8.96 per hour (Practical Support)


• £7.74 per hour (Sitting Service)

This Trust will give an additional £77 (in the first year only) on top of the above hourly rates to pay for Employers Liability Insurance. 

Western Health and Social Care Trust

This Trust comprises of the former Foyle and Sperrin & Lakeland Health Trusts.

• £10.04

This Trust will give an additional £135 (in the first year only) on top of the above hourly rate to pay for Employers Liability Insurance.

Northern Health and Social Care Trust

This Trust comprises of the former Homefirst and Causeway Health Trusts.

• £8.50

This Trust will give an additional £77 every year to pay for Employers Liability Insurance.
