Who can be employed using Direct Payments?

You may employ anyone who is eligible to work in the United Kingdom, usually with the exception of close relatives living in the same household as you.

Your local Health and Social Services Trust has the authority, under special circumstances to allow close relatives living in the same house to be employed, as long as the Trust is satisfied that to do so, is in your best interest.

The following people are considered to be close relatives:

• Parent or Parent in law
  
  
• Aunt or Uncle
  
  
• Grandparent
  
  
• Son or Daughter
  
  
• Son in law or Daughter in law
  
  
• Stepson or Stepdaughter
  
  
• Brother or Sister
  
  
• Spouse or Partner of any of the above
